This weeks assignment from The League is “What songs were forever being looped on your car’s stereo back in high school. A cassette could only hold a dozen or so songs, so that’s the magic number of songs to list. If your car didn’t have a cassette deck in high school, go ahead and pretend it did, you punk.”
This week’s assignment is quite interesting. Mostly because my teens were spent getting to know the CD (writeable and re-writable did not exist at that point), so the art of a good mix tape was lost on me. However over the years, I have developed a little knowledge on the art of a good mix tape (CD), by trying and failing as well as my fictional mentors.
I learned from great shows like “How I Met Your Mother”
Barney: Now people think a good mix should rise and fall. But people are wrong. It should be all rise, baby!
And from movies such as “High Fidelity”
Rob: The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don’t wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules.
So here it is, my Mix Tape submission to The League…

THIS IS AN AWESOME MIX!!! Blind Melon… Last Dance With Mary Jane… 2 Counting Crow songs (both favorites of mine)… I am just overwhelmed.
Some great songs here. I love the Freshman, and I can’t believe mmm mmm mmm mmm made it on not just one, but TWO lists this week. Well done!
Nice choices! Love Counting Crows and I love Tom Petty. Plus I love that Verve Pipe song. Nobody’s heard of it here but what can you do? Good list mate!
