Black and whit is one of my favorite mediums of photos to work in. A lot of people think it is as simple as “Mode > Grey-scale” and that can do something cool to photos, but to really pull good detail out of them, you can edit the lighting and shadow brightness while the photo is still in color, or move from color to Sepia and make changes before the final jump to black and white. There is a lot you can do with the right editor (I prefer Gimp). But here is my submission for this week, I will call it “A Friends Home Away From Home”

i like the contrasts in this photo; textures: the smooth texture of the house on the left, un-smoothness of the birches’ trunks and leaves on the right. Shapes: all straight lines and the round wheel at the front. Great composition.
